Sun and sand → The western coast

This coastal strip is characterized by being the most heavily developed area for tourism, both due to its villages and the nature of the terrain. The coastline, which saw the departure of the defeated Boabdil, the last king of Al-Andalus, boasts a gentle profile with wide, well-connected beaches where tourists can enjoy numerous services in a small area. It is no coincidence that the west of this province boasts nine Blue Flag beaches. In the town of Roquetas de Mar, there are the tourist beaches of La Romanilla, the Roquetas urbanization, and Serena; in El Ejido, San Miguel-Poniente, Balerma, and Levante-Almerimar; and in Adra, San Nicolás, Levante, and Poniente. However, the pronounced tourist character does not mean that the enjoyment of this region is at odds with the natural surroundings.

Proof of this are the pristine beaches along this coast, as well as the Punta Entinas-Sabinar area, the Las Albuferas de Adra Nature Reserve, Arrecife Barrera de Posidonia (Roquetas de Mar), and the salt flats in Guardias Viejas, places of particular charm and a must-see. Windsurfing enthusiasts will find a dream location in San Miguel Bay in El Ejido and Playa Serena in Roquetas de Mar, and golfers can choose from a variety of courses. In the evening, a boat trip is recommended, departing from one of the marinas in Aguadulce, Roquetas de Mar, Almerimar, or Adra. And for the more active, there are all kinds of risk sports. Undoubtedly a good itinerary with activities.
