Poniente Almeriense is a Spanish region located in the southwestern part of the province of Almería. This territory borders the Almería regions of La
Alpujarra to the north and the Almería metropolitan area to the northeast, as well as the Granada regions of La Costa to the southwest and the
Alpujarra Granadina to the west. To the south and east it has access to the Mediterranean Sea, to the north lies the Sierra de Gádor, and to the n
ortheast the capital city of Almería and the Gulf of Almería.
It is made up of ten municipalities, of which Roquetas de Mar is the most populous and El Ejido the largest. The least populated municipality is
Enix, and the smallest is La Mojonera. The traditional and historical capital is the town of El Ejido. Like the other regions of Almería, it is
recognized only geographically, but not politically.

How to get there: The Poniente Almeriense has good road connections and is easily accessible from both the city of Almería and the coastal
areas of Málaga or Granada. Both the airport and the port of Almería are just a few minutes away by car via the Autovía del Mediterráneo, which
connects the region from east to west. The rest of the Poniente is connected by a network of main and secondary roads, allowing you to leisurely
explore the region and enjoy the diverse landscapes along the way.
