Félix, general view |
As in Énix, the greatest attraction in Félix is the town's Moorish architecture, with its whitewashed houses clustered around the medieval
fortress. A visit to the town's church is also recommended. A traditional legend tells that in 1568, during the Moorish rebellion against the
Christian troops of the Marquis de Los Vélez in the Cerro de la Matanza, the Moorish inhabitants threw themselves from the steep hill to escape
forced conversion to Christianity. This bloody legend gave the hill its name. The traces of Al-Andalus can also be felt in the center of Vícar.
The local fortress church still preserves remnants of the Muslim fortress in the form of the bell tower. In the surrounding area, you can see the
17th-century house of the Marquis of Casablanca and some of the province's best-preserved Roman monuments: the Roman aqueducts of Carcuz in the Los
Pericos area, formed by the Puente de los Poyos bridge and the aqueduct of Los Veinte Ojos. In this setting, with the atmosphere of the
Alpujarras, Envia Golf is located on one of the hills. This is a modern resort with all the amenities and services, and an 18-hole golf course. An oasis of tranquility for practicing your favorite sport.
