The district is the cradle of schematic cave figures that are the symbol of the province, such as the Indalo or wizard. This is just one example of the rich monumental heritage of places like Vélez Blanco or Vélez Rubio.

Due to its special location in the middle of the mountains, Los Vélez is able to show the visitor the image of typical mountain villages, such as Chirivel or MarÍa, with small white houses where time seems to stand still. In winter the snowy peaks are a beautiful view.
