Desert areas and wild landscapes, such as those of Tabernas, large mountains with lush vegetation, coastlines, cliffs, and the pristine beaches of Cabo de Gata-Níjar. Few Spanish provinces can boast such a diverse and contrasting geography. Undoubtedly, this characteristic led to over 200 films and series being shot in Almería by 2001, making it one of the most important film production centers. Spanish films were quickly absorbed by European and American productions, attracting international actors and thus tourism, which soon became the center and source of wealth for the province. Directed by Sergio Leone, his Western films were a huge success. However, the aim was not to solely market this genre, and parts of famous films such as Indiana Jones, The Last Crusade, The Lord of the Rings, and Patton were also filmed here. The actors were also enchanted by the area and its people.

John Lennon spent his 26th birthday in what is now the Hotel Delfín Verde, and the Italian Fabio Testi fell in love with a woman from Almeria and later married her. The young Clint Eastwood and later Arnold Schwarzenegger began their rapid rise to fame after playing their first roles here. Today, many commercials and fewer films are shot here, all taking advantage of the excellent lighting and unique weather conditions.
