Filme aus Almería → Western villages
The desert landscape and climate that characterize parts of the province provided an ideal backdrop for Western films, which was particularly
exploited in the early 1960s. Due to the increased demand for such settings by the world's top film directors, several Western villages were built
near the Tabernas Desert. Films like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars were filmed here, among others.

Mini-Hollywood
This western town was the first to be built in Almería in the 1960s and has served as the backdrop for films such as A Fistful of Dollars and
The Price of Death. Its yellow clay streets have been trodden by famous directors and actors such as Henry Fonda, Orson Wells, Brigitte Bardot,
and Harrison Fort. In this replica of America's wildest side, visitors today find typical western saloons, a sheriff's office, and even a bank from
the era, and, of course, the famous horse-drawn carriages.

Mini-Hollywood, also known as Parque Temático del Desierto de Tabernas, is located on the A-340 not far from the intersection with the A-92, about
six kilometers before Tabernas when coming from Almería. A whiskey in a saloon, a horseback ride? However, the fun isn't available for a handful of
euros; the prices are quite hefty. However, during the season, a bank robbery complete with a shootout is staged once a day, and can-can dancers
dance... A few years ago, the offerings were expanded: Now, there's also a zoo to visit.

Fort Bravo
Located a short distance behind Mini-Hollywood, near Tabernas, Fort Bravo, known until a few years ago as Texas Hollywood, boasts, among other
things, the classics The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and The Magnificent Seven. However, Fort Bravo is quite a bit smaller than
Mini-Hollywood, which also affects the admission prices to some extent.

This set was built in 1963 for the filming of the Sergio Leone-directed film For a Few Dollars More, starring Clint Eastwood. Leone was the
film director who most favored Almería for his films. Fort Bravo was also the backdrop for the classic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and
other more recent films such as Young Indiana Jones, Indiana Jones, and The Last Crusade. Film buffs can ride horses through
the city and visit the Mexican-style Fort Bravo or an Italian village.

Western Leone
This city owes its name to Italian director Sergio Leone, who made the Almería region famous as a film location and invented the Spaghetti Western
genre. Leone directed the films Once Upon a Time in the West, starring Claudia Cardinale and Henry Fonda, as well as The Good, the Bad and
the Ugly and Treasure Island.
