The Sierra Nevada Natural Park is the backdrop for this excursion, which begins on the banks of the Andarax River, in the small village of Instinción. Shaded by giant eucalyptus trees, on the Andarax River, lies Rágol. This quiet whitewashed village with its Moorish charm, dominated by its Mudéjar church, is especially known for its grapes and raisins.
The village of Canjáyar, surrounded by lush vegetable gardens still irrigated by centuries-old water channels, known as acequias, lies at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, facing the Gádor Mountains. Archaeological remains dating back to prehistoric times indicate a very early human settlement.

During the Nasrid period, Canjáyar was the main parish of the Tahá (administrative district) of Lúchar. Besides the church, the surrounding area of Canjáyar, the area of Nieles, home to a cave with remains from the Copper and Bronze Ages, and the village of Alcora, which belongs to the municipality, are also worth a visit.
Face to the Andarax River lies the town of Padules, whose name means "small lagoons" and refers to the frequent springs. This small white village is known above all for its wine production and for its interesting Mudéjar-style church. The town of Almócita, with its pristine white appearance and framed by the Siena Nevada mountain range, is one of the most representative examples of village architecture in the Alpujarras. If it weren't for the rather austere Mudéjar style of its parish church, one would think of it as a Moorish village. The town even retains the old Jewish quarter in the Barrio Bajo district. The washing places and the village square with its fountain further enhance the charm of this beautiful village.

A green landscape lined with vegetable gardens, vineyards, and fruit trees leads us to Beires, which sits like a balcony overlooking the Andarax Valley. Its flat-roofed houses cling to the mountainside, capping it with a beautiful whitewashed village landscape, from which the church of San Roque stands out.
In this district, which is part of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, there are numerous interesting places to visit, such as the Fuente del Nacimiento, an area dotted with numerous springs and picnic areas, where you can spend a wonderful day surrounded by nature.
