The Alpujarra Almeriense is a Spanish region located in the western part of the province of Almería. This area borders the Almerian regions of Los Filabres-Tabernas to the north, the metropolitan area of Almería to the east and Poniente Almeriense to the south, as well as the Granadina regions of Alpujarra Granadina to the west and Guadix to the northwest.
It consists of 22 municipalities, of which Alhama de Almería is the most populous and Laujar de Andarax the largest. The least populated municipality is Beires, and the smallest is Alicún. The traditional and historical capital is the town of Laujar de Andarax.
Like the other regions of Almería, it is only recognized geographically and culturally, but not politically. As its name suggests, it is located in the Almería part of the historical territory of La Alpujarra, north of the Sierra de Gádor and south of the Sierra Nevada, on the upper and middle reaches of the Andarax River.

How to get there: The area is crossed from east to west by the A-348 highway and can be reached from the Granadina Alpujarra region or from the city of Almería, its airport, and its seaport.
From the north, the A-92 highway leads to the area, but if you prefer a more peaceful journey through the Sierra Nevada, we recommend crossing the Puerto de la Rágua mountain pass. The A-347 and A-391 highways connect the area to the Poniente Almeriense coast. From the south, the highway passes through Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido.
